BRAVO: Ian, acabamos de ver você e Paul Wesley brincando. Vocês são realmente bons amigos, não é?

Ian: Ah, sim. Nina, Paul e eu, todos nos mudamos para Atlanta para a serie e eu não conheço ninguém aqui. Então, virou uma espécie de família. Alguns dos atores eram mesmo companheiros por algum tempo. Agora todo mundo tem seu próprio lugar, mas ainda nos reunimos muito em fora do set.

BRAVO: Vocês especialmente sai muito com a Nina ...

Ian: Isso é verdade. Nós realmente passamos muito tempo juntos. Acontece que somos bons amigos. (Sorri)

BRAVO: Ela é uma menina otima. Seja honesto, ela é a garota de seus sonhos?

Ian: Eu não tenho um tipo específico. A menina deve apenas me fascinar e nós devemos compartilhar a mesma perspectiva sobre as coisas.

BRAVO: E as perspectivas são ...

Ian: Todos devem apreciar a vida enquanto puder: Esse é o meu lema. Eu acho que você deve ser capaz de desfrutar as coisas. E isso não é uma questão de dinheiro. Eu, por exemplo, amo olhar em torno dos mercados de pulgas em busca de livros antigos. Eu coleciono eles.

BRAVO: Não esperavamos um passatempo tão inofensivo vindo de você. Afinal nós nos deparamos com tão bonito pensamento, mesmo voce sendo o Damon na TV.

Ian: Eu sou muito diferente dele na realidade. Eu sou bastante calmo, fácil e agradável como o meu irmão Stefan na TV.

BRAVO: É difícil para você fazer o bad boy, às vezes?

Ian: Não, eu adoro isso! Para atormentar outras pessoas na frente da câmera, isso pode ser tão divertido! (Risos)

BRAVO: Porque é que existem realmente muitas garotas corajosas como Damon?

Ian: Eu não sei. É provavelmente porque o perigo as chama para dentro, ao invés de escolherem o caminho mais fácil muitas meninas estão procurando um desafio e em seguida, ficam confusas por estes caras.

BRAVO: Você pode ser visto sem camisa, bastante para em seu papel como um vampiro. Você tem que se exercitar duro para mostrar os seus músculos abdominais?

Ian: Eu não sou muito de homem musculoso, eu só quero parecer bem para a câmera mostrar. Por isso eu vou nadar, faço corridas e saio para longas caminhadas.

BRAVO: Seus fãs alemães não podem esperar para finalmente vê-lo na 2ª temporada. Pode nos dizer alguns segredos sobre a serie?

Ian: Ela vai ficar ainda mais emocionante. Haverá uma série de problemas entre Damon e Stefan, e Damon não será mais a criatura mais poderosa em Mystic Falls. Os lobisomens vão desempenhar um papel. Espere para ver ...

BRAVO: Ian, we just saw you and Paul Wesley joking around. You are really good friends, aren’t you?
Ian: Oh yeah. Nina, Paul and I all moved to ATL for the show and didn’t know anybody here. So we became somewhat of a family. Some of the actors were even roommates for some time. Now everyone has their own place but we still get together a lot off-set.

BRAVO: You especially hang out a lot with Nina...
Ian: That’s true. We really spend a lot of time together. We happen to be good friends. (grins)

BRAVO: She is a great girl. Be honest, is she a girl of your dreams?
Ian: I don’t have a particular type. The girl should just fascinate me and we should share the same perspective on things.

BRAVO: And those perspectives are...
Ian: Everyone should appreciate life as long as they can: that’s my motto. I think you must be able to enjoy things. And that’s not a question of money. I, for example, love to look around flea markets searching for old books. I collect those.

BRAVO: We didn’t expect such a harmless hobby from you. After all you come across as pretty mean as Damon on TV.
Ian: I’m quite different in reality. I’m rather calm/easy and nice, like my TV brother Stefan.

BRAVO: Is it hard for you to play the bad boy sometimes?
Ian: No, I love it! To torment other people in front of the camera can be so much fun! (laughs)

BRAVO: Why are actually so many girls into daredevils like Damon?
Ian: I don’t know. It’s probably the danger that draws them in. Instead of choosing the easy road many girls are looking for a challenge and then get messed with by such guys.

BRAVO: You can be seen shirtless quite a lot for your role as a vampire. Do you have to work out hard for your abs?
Ian: I’m not much of a muscle-man, I just want to look fit on camera. For that I go jogging, swimming and I go for long walks.

BRAVO: Your German fans can’t wait to finally see you in season 2. Can you tell some secrets about the show?
Ian: It’ll get even more exciting. There will be a lot of problems between Damon and Stefan, and Damon won’t be the most powerful creature in Mystic Falls anymore. Werewolves will play a role. Wait and see...
